At Wilby Primary School, pupils in Key Stage 2 have access to Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS), an engaging online programme designed to help children develop rapid recall and confidence with their multiplication and division facts. Through games, challenges and friendly competitions, pupils can practise their times tables in a fun and motivating way.

Strong times table knowledge is an essential part of mathematics and supports learning across many areas of the curriculum. Regular practice helps children improve their fluency, accuracy and confidence, particularly in preparation for the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) which all pupils complete in Year 4.

Children can access TTRS both at school and at home. While we actively encourage pupils to use the platform, we recognise that some families prefer to limit screen time or use alternative methods for practising times tables. For this reason, participation at home is optional, and families are welcome to support times table learning in ways that best suit their child.

We encourage all Key Stage 2 pupils to regularly practise their times tables, whether through TTRS, chanting, flashcards, games or other activities. The most important thing is that children develop secure and confident recall of multiplication facts to support their wider mathematical learning.
