Norwich Synagogue and Castle visit (41 images)

12.7.19-Kingfisher Class had a brilliant double bill-two visits in one day. In the synagogue we learnt all about a typical Jewish weekend and synagogue service and in the museum we visited the Egyptian and the Saxon/ Viking exhibitions. They really helped to bring learning alive. We loved the natural history room too!

Our year 6 pupils had an amazing day out in London visiting 10 Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament, the Science Museum and Bucking ham Palace among other sites

Gold Medals for Wilby swimmers -1.4.19 (4 images)

On April 4th our fabulously talented swimmers won Gold in the Inter-school Swimming competition. This means that they are now through to the regional finals to be held in Bury in July 2019.

Stow Saxon Village-Kingfisher trip (15 images)

In march 19 Kingfisher Class visited Stow Saxon Village. They had a wonderful time visiting the re-created Saxon houses and handling artefacts to find out more about how the Saxons really lived.

Dementia Awareness-The Archie Project (5 images)

This year Wilby School will be working on the Archie Project with Hartismere Place Care Home in Eye. The Archie Project is an exciting intergenerational dementia awareness project that links local primary schools, care homes/ sheltered housing schemes, businesses/ services and community members to ultimately dispel the fear and stigma often associated with dementia and create more dementia friendly communities. Owl Class will be completing a number of workshops in school to help develop their understanding and will also have the opportunity to go to Hartismere Place to meet the residents there and spend some time talking to them, reading to them and playing games or doing craft activities. We believe that this type of experience will help develop compassion, tolerance and understanding in our young people –skills which are crucial to the success of society as a whole

Music for a Summer's evening 2018 (9 images)

This brilliant event on June 21st 2018 raised over £500 for the Brain Tumour Charity. Musicians Matt and Kelly Bayfield were the stars of the evening. Matt told us all about his condition and how the charity helps him and those suffering form brain tumours across the UK

School fete 2018 (8 images)

We had a fabulous day on Saturday 30th June. The fair was well attended and we raised over £1100 for school funds. The children performed gymnastics and our brass group played. As well as the usual stalls there was a wide range of science activities, t-shirt printing and face painting. It was brilliant!

Finally it snowed! On Tuesday 12.12.17 the children were able to play out in gloriously crisp, white snow. Everyone had a brilliant time!

Year 2 and 3 visited the Bond Street Mosque in Ipswich on 4.12.17. They learnt lots about how Muslims pray and what they do in the Mosque

As a finale to out 'Going for Green' topic the whole school visited Ringsfield Hall Eco-Centre. We took part in some forest school activities and had a really fun educational day out.

Experience Our Church Day (18 images)

The children had a brilliant day taking part in a whole range of hands on activities including a photo treasure hunt and a variety of literacy and art work which helped them to extend their understanding of the role of St Mary's in the community and in the lives of those who worship there.

African Adventure (19 images)

Year 5 and 6 had an amazing time at Sizewell Hall learning about some of challenges of life in Africa. They enjoyed lots of team-building exercises, archery, low-rope challenges, and staying overnight in an African-style village.

STEM Fair (10 images)

Wilby Primary School's Mr Haynes organised an amazing Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Fair for Wilby, four Primary schools and three local secondary schools. All sorts of people, including mad Science, Suffolk Wildlife Trust and Geosuffolk joined them to create an amazing hands on day for everyone.

On June the 14th the Brass group performed at Foxearth Nursing Home as part of their Macmillan Coffee Morning. They sounded brilliant!

On May 16th we were visited by Bishop Mike. He told us lots about being a Bishop and explained the religious significance of his clothes and jewellery. Lucky Sammy got to try it all on!

Sing your Heart Out Fundraising Event (2 images)

On Monday 13th march Wilby School Pupils were joined by Local choir 'Hoxne Village voices' and singers Rhianna Roughton and Ella Miles and even a staff and Governors choir to take part in a singing event to raise funds for the Royal voluntary Service. We raised over £400 !

This term we launched our link with Mogonjet Primary School in Kenya-we have written to each other and compared our school days. Next term we will be fundraising to buy our new friends school equipment.
