Enrichment & After-School Clubs
At Wilby Primary School, we believe that a truly ambitious education reaches far beyond the classroom walls. Our curriculum is designed to develop "the whole child," ensuring that every pupil—regardless of background—has the opportunity to discover new passions and develop the resilience needed for later life.
Creative Arts & Performance
We don't just teach subjects; we inspire mastery. By utilizing our own staff’s expertise alongside external specialists, we ensure high-quality instruction in Art, Music, Computing, Science, French, and Sport.
-
A Musical Journey: Music starts the moment children join us.
-
Early Years & KS1: Music is integrated into the curriculum from the start of school.
-
Years 3 & 4: All pupils learn to play the recorder.
-
Years 5 & 6: All pupils progress to learning brass instruments.

The Spotlight on Drama: Every child deserves their moment to shine. All pupils at Wilby participate in a drama performance across the year, building confidence, creativity, and public speaking skills.

Sport, Health & Adventure
Physical learning is at the heart of our "learning by doing" philosophy. We offer a variety of specialised sporting experiences throughout the year:
-
Swimming: Water safety and confidence are vital. All children from Year 1 upwards receive a term of swimming lessons annually at Stradbroke Pool.
-
Early Years Forest School: Our youngest learners enjoy Forest School all year round, fostering a love for the outdoors and hands-on discovery.
-
Specialist Coaching: We provide expert instruction in a range of sports at various times during the school year.
-
Residential Trips: Older pupils take part in Outdoor Adventurous Activity residentials to build independence and teamwork.
-
Bringing Learning to Life: Visits & Visitors
Each class enjoys a trip every term to extend their learning. Favorite destinations include the Houses of Parliament, the Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts, Ipswich Museum, and Norwich/Colchester Castles.
We also regularly welcome guests—from parents sharing career journeys and our local MP, to Olympic athletes and African dance troupes—to spark curiosity and broaden horizons.
Our Commitment: Above all, we are dedicated to providing a learning experience that stimulates, inspires, and prepares every child at Wilby Primary School for a bright and successful future.
